MICHAEL V. CORY
Michael V. Cory, Jr., is a partner in the law firm of Danks, Miller, & Cory. His practice is focused on general civil litigation, business law, employment law, and immigration law. He also has significant experience handling white collar criminal cases and construction disputes.
Michael has extensive trial experience having successfully representing firm clients in business dispute cases, construction dispute cases, criminal defense cases, insurance coverage cases, premises liability cases, automobile liability cases, and professional malpractice cases. He also has successfully represented clients in administrative hearings and appeals before various state agencies.
Prior to joining Danks, Miller, & Cory, Michael was a partner at Steen, Reynolds & Dalehite, LLP, and at Burr Forman, LLP. While at these firms his practice primarily involved handling first party and third party liability claims for Allstate Insurance Company, State Farm Mutual Insurance Company, American International Insurance Group, Zurich/American Insurance Group, St. Paul Travelers Insurance Company, and Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi.
Michael is a proud member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Defense Research Institute, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Subcontractors Alliance of Mississippi. He is also a frequently requested speaker on trial practice, insurance coverage, and settlement negotiation techniques.
Michael was born in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1989 with a B.A. in Political Science. He graduated cum laude in 1994 from the University Of Mississippi School Of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, and the Mississippi Law Journal, serving as Special Projects Editor, 1993-1994.
He has co-authored two law journal articles “Mississippi Uninsured Motorist Law – Where Do We Go From Here,” 68 Miss. L.J. 455 (1999) and “The Circumvention of Mississippi’s Prohibition against Direct Actions“, 66 Miss. L.J. 493 (1997), and written numerous other papers for presentation.From 1990-1997, he served as a Captain, EN, in the United States Army Reserve.
Michael is active in his neighborhood association, several community volunteer organizations, and has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations.
