EMILIA AYALA DE LEON
Emilia Ayala joined the firm in August 2015. Her practice is focused in the areas of Immigration and Nationality Law, Business Law and Administrative Law. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. She believes everyone should have an opportunity to be heard and given the opportunity to pursue a better future.
Emilia is originally from Mexico City, Mexico- where she received her law degree in 2010 from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, México – LL.B. (Licenciatura en Derecho). She then came to the U.S. to expand and understand the American legal system and earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in 2013 from Mississippi College School of Law.
Emilia has practiced U.S. Immigration & Nationality law since 2014. During 2014, she worked as a volunteer with Catholic Charities Jackson in the Migrant Support Center, giving advice and counsel to numerous people in need of an immigration attorney. She is a proud member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and a member of the Junior League of Alabama. Prior to becoming a licensed attorney in the U.S., she was an immigration paralegal.
As an nonimmigrant herself, she has extensive experience in the preparation of nonimmigrant visa petitions. She also has experience in family-based immigration, naturalization, employment visas, consular processing, asylum, and representation in deportation and removal proceedings.
Before coming to the U.S., she practiced as an associate attorney for 2 years in a prestigious firm in Mexico City- Bufete Becerra Pocoroba, S.C., primarily in the areas of tax and administrative law.
Emilia is married to Dr. Miguel Urencio, also originally from Mexico. He is now preparing himself to become a pediatric heart surgeon at UMMC. They are the parents of a baby boy.
